Horde at Home — Update Notes & Development Roadmap
Horde at Home is a 2.5D illustrated zombie defense survival game for mobile and desktop. You guide a single family — Father, Mother, Son, Daughter, Grandpa, and the family dog Rex — through fifty escalating nights in an isolated farmhouse. By day you tend a backyard farm of chickens, pigs, a dairy cow, and row crops, draw water from the stone well, and visit Grandpa’s shed to craft ammunition, upgrade weapons, and reinforce the four windows that face the front yard. By night the horde arrives, and each family member mans a window in a first-person defense sequence where headshots, shutters, auto-turrets, and land mines decide whether dawn breaks again.
This page is the living record of how Horde at Home evolves. Every balance pass, new gameplay system, story beat, and bug fix is logged below as a patch note, dated and categorized so returning survivors can see exactly what changed since their last night on the homestead. Feature entries cover additions like new backdrops, turret tiers, or family abilities; balance entries explain tuning to zombie health, spawn curves, and resource economy; content entries add lore, survival tips, and Grandpa’s dialogue; bugfix entries document the repairs that keep the farmhouse standing.
The game is built mobile-first with a landscape orientation, a left-hand joystick for walking the yard and house floors, and right-hand action buttons for interaction and combat. A unified points economy ties every upgrade together — weapons, fortifications, farm animals, character cosmetics, and defensive turrets all draw from the same pool of points earned by surviving nights and tending the homestead by day. Difficulty scales steeply across the fifty-night campaign, introducing faster joggers, armored brutes, and mutated specials as the days advance, so every patch note here reflects an ongoing effort to keep the challenge fair, the loop rewarding, and the family’s story worth fighting for.
